Greetings families,
As we approach the end of term we are busy working on and completing a number of projects. In Science we are investigating the rock cycle this week and students will continue to work on their extensive workbooks. Last week, while discussing different types of rocks and minerals, I was delighted to hear students connect what they are learning to vacations they have taken - students recalled seeing igneous rocks when visiting both Jeju and Hawaii. Great job, parents! In Math, we are perfecting our multiplication of two and three digit numbers using the partial products method. Look for videos soon! We will also be taking some time this week to discuss big numbers. In Reading, Writing, and Social Studies, we continue to use The American Revolution as our source of research and research writing. In Social Studies we are building a detailed timeline of the revolution. Students have researched the revolution with attention giving to dates and details of significant events in the revolution. In Reading, students have been practicing research techniques as we read a variety of texts and take notes to help support our research writing which takes place during our Writing classes. Students have each chosen a significant historical figure and have been writing about how that person affected the revolution. This week we will be completing our drafting, while some will move into editing. On Friday, we will have our Jumping for Hearts event! Students should wear their PE uniform - sweat pants with their white polo. We will be handing out t-shirts for them to put over. Thank you! On Monday we will have our birthday celebrations and Uniform Free Friday (Monday). Have a great week everyone!
