Easily, Mr. Baker's favorite week of the year!!
Welcome to book week! Let's take a quick look at the week. On Monday we will have Global Readers - Grade 4 students will be visiting the library between 11:30 and 12:00 to hear stories read by parents and teachers in different languages. On Tuesday, it will be the students turn to read - this time to animals! We will do this activity first thing in the morning - with a variety of animals visiting, from hamsters to hedgehogs, to Lucy! On Wednesday students are encouraged to come to school dressed as a character from a favorite book. In the evening, from 6:00 - 7:00, our visiting author, Margaret Read MacDonald will be offering Family Night Storytelling. Please come by with the whole family. This will take place in Dalton Hall. On Thursday, Margaret Read MacDonald will be visiting us again with an FP assembly in the library in the morning, as well as a class visit after lunch. On Friday we will have our book swap which will take place throughout the day. Grade 4 students will take charge in the organzation of the book swap store as well as have first picks at all the books. Please keep this in mind and send in any unwanted books throughout the week! Also on Friday, we will be taking our pictures for the yearbook. We will do this after lunch. So, dress sharp kids!! :) Throughout the week, students will also take part in our AR-a-thon. FPTV will report on how our students are performing through points, with daily winners. Let's read, Grade 4!!!

Well here we are with only two terms left!
Time has been flying and students have been working furiously. We have summed up our Term 3 work - please look for SeeSaw updates by next week. Those American Revolution research papers are just about done and I'm on to grading them. Thank you for your patience. We had a wonderful time at Job World. Students were happy to have their freedom to choose and visit the job sites they were interested in. They ran from place to place and were attentive in their attendance. It was great to hear students discuss what they enjoyed as well as what they learned. Please click on the Photos tab at the top of the page to see some pics. This week we will begin our Term 4 work. As we do so I must encourage all parents to be vigilant in ensuring that students read daily. Students should be reading AR books, or those approved by me during this stage of the year. I want to know that they are keeping their 30 minute per day agreement. Students should be taking AT LEAST one AR test per week. Dedication is key. Students also must visit XtraMath each day - M - F. It only takes a few minutes and the benefits make it worthwhile. Finally, I want to remind parents that students are marked late when they arrive after 8:00. Too many students are wandering in between 8:01 and 8:10. This is not acceptable. On occasion, excuses are understandable - but not often. Please take care to make sure your child arrives in class on time. A late student begins the day off task. Finally, school will be closed for students on Friday, March 10. Enjoy the day guys!! I'll be here... toiling away... :( |
