Greetings students and parents,
Well, here we are about to start the final week before the winter break. Let me give a brief breakdown of what will happen this week. Monday: Assembly - 10:30am - Students should wear their khakis and cardigan with white polo. Tuesday: No P.E. We will not have PE today. In the afternoon, we will have our Winter Concert. Again, students wear formal uniform - khakies, cardigan, and white polo. Parent's please attend! Grade 4 have worked very hard to manage the winter concert under Ms. Fitz's direction. Wednesday and Thursday will be regular school days, busy finishing Term 2 tasks and getting ready for the Winter Break. Friday we will have the Candle Lighting Ceremony. That will be a half day. Students arrive at the same time. We will enjoy our house breakfast and then attend the ceremony. Please make sure your child is dressed again in the formal uniform. Dismissal will be at 11:20. The bus will leave at 11:30. Let's have a great final school week of 2016! Mr. Baker

Greetings parents and students,
On Monday we will have a math test. We have been working on the following concepts: 1) Multiples and factors 2) Addition and Subtraction number stories 3) Multiplication facts 4) Division Facts 5)) Using a Map Scale 6) Open senteces 7) Parentheses I am confident in our students to succeed as long as they take time to check and recheck their work. We have reviewed the topics in class and through homework. I have also given them a pre-test putting emphasis on checking our work. Please review their homwwork packet that I have sent home. I am also signing students up for XtraMath.org. There we will have more time to practice our math. I am sending home a letter to explain and show you how to enroll. In other areas: In Writing we are working on persuasive essays as students have chosen their own topics and are willing to support their thesis. In Reading, we have started a research project which will take us to the end of the term. Table groups have chosen a type of extreme weather to explore and gain a better understanding of. In Social Studies, we are narrowing our focus for our one-day-store. We have changed to date to the first or second week after we return in January in order to better plan the event and allow us to clarify details with our donation. In Science we have just about completed our unit on forces as we have a few more students to finish off their ramp race project. Students have been practicing the Energy unit vocaublary which will begin early next week. Have a great weekend! |
